On Tuesday 4 July 2017, Xtensive ICT Academy hosted a graduation ceremony at Kwa- Zanele Community Hall in Breyten, Mpumalanga.

The Training Provider Xtensive ICT Academy, the funder MICT SETA and Project Management Company SPL Communications proudly presented the Graduation.

50 Graduates were presented with National Certificates for the Qualification SAQA ID 78964 National Certificate: Information Technology: Technical Support: NQF Level 4.

This showcase event represented the successful conclusion of a one-year learnership programme that was funded and quality assured by the MICT SETA and managed by SPL Communications.

This learnership programme was designed to bring provide a skills development opportunity for 50 unemployed youths from the Msukaligwa Municipality in Breyten Mpumalanga.

Stakeholders of the programme attended the Graduation Ceremony included the MICT SETA, the Project Management Company, SPL Communications, the Training Provider Xtensive ICT Academy, programme graduates, community representative and family of the learners.

The official welcome was presented by the Xtensive ICT Academy Operations Manager Mr. Xolani Mngoma.

SPL Communications CEO Mrs Shadi Laka delivered a congratulatory address, which motivated learners to continue to seek opportunities to improve their skills sets and become active participants in the economy of Mpumalanga.

The MICT SETA was represented by Learnership Advisor Mr. Matome Maloba who delivered the keynote address. Mr. Maloba emphasised that this SETA funded this learnership programme was made possible by the Skills Development Act and that learners truly achieved a tangible qualification accredited with the South African Qualifications Authority. Mr. Maloba provided an overview of National Educational and Training Landscape and insight into the structure and processes that drive the educational agenda in our country.

This learnership enabled unemployed youths to achieve valuable computer skills that have enabled them to integrate information technology into their workplace practices. Beneficiaries of the programme have received an opportunity to use and apply computer technology within the workplace. The effect of this learnership has been to introduce beneficiaries to the use and application of Information Technology in order to enhance their prospects for employment and entrepreneurial endeavours.

The MICT SETA has demonstrated its unwavering commitment to the skills development and continuing upliftment of its education system, schools and the continuous upliftment of the youth through various initiatives.

Learner Representative Mqolisi Mabena thanked all the stakeholders for the opportunity to participate in this learnership programme and for the positive impact on the community.

Graduates were encouraged to keep up their information technology skills through quality and innovative educational practices. Graduates were inspired to maintain ethos of Life Long Learning.
