On Wednesday the 27th of August; our beloved Xtensive Colleague Jeanette Makhubela; tragically passed away after illness in hospital. Our hearts go out to the family and loved ones who suffered this tremendous loss.
The below words highlight what a wonderful person she was; who will be sorely missed by friends family and colleagues:
Jeanette was always a person who saw the positive in other people and was always optimistic.
Her amazing smile, engagement, honesty, directness and passion made the lives of those around her better, and built us up to achieve more that we might ever have believed we were capable of. She helped people face up to realities that turned out to be mostly far less tough than they had believed them to be. She achieved that rarest of achievements – putting more into others than she took out and in so doing she made a difference. She was one of those people you would walk across the room to find. She was attractive in all ways – as a woman, as a leader and in her character and values.
Jeanette was living proof of how fine a person can be. She was a good boss to the people in her charge, and a devoted mother to her children. She was also a good friend to many of us and a great colleague. The character of the life she lived might be summed up in a few words: she was sincere, she was earnest, and she was loyal.
As Chief Administrator and Operations Manager, Jeanette led her staff in such a way that she exemplified leadership. She gave energy, commitment and inspiration to her staff and to others with whom she worked.
The Jeanette I remember was a happy Jeanette, one who not only was cheerful in herself but who gave much cheerfulness to others.
She had a beautiful smile, a sense of humour and a gentle demeanour. Jeanette was bright, logical and systematic in her thinking. She was always willing to share her ideas and information. We found her to be a splendid person of great intellect and big heart.
In her Career with Xtensive ICT Academy Jeanette worked with passion, integrity and energy.
By her death all the people who knew her will miss a highly intelligent, vibrant individual with a rare friendliness and charm of personality. Jeanette was a genuinely warm and wonderful individual—one we will miss greatly.
