July 18 was internationally declared as Mandela day, a Day in which we are all asked to spend at least 67 minutes of our time to give a hand to those in need.
Xtensive identified a hospice next door to our head office; we dedicated this day to assist the Tswaranang Hospice with its needs. Assistance included washing windows, cleaning toilets and the kitchen and gardening. Xtensive also donated groceries for residents of the hospice. City Power later joined Xtensive and we worked side by side to plant seedlings for the vegetable garden.
The management at Tswaranang Hospice provided us with the history of the hospice and explained difficulties they face every day and all persons present were asked to individually assist wherever possible.

Overcoming poverty is not a task of charity, it is an act of justice. Like Slavery and Apartheid, poverty is not natural. It is man-made and it can be overcome and eradicated by the actions of human beings. Sometimes it falls on a generation to be great. YOU can be that great generation. Let your greatness blossom – Nelson Mandela
